Jacqueline Loeve (May 26, 1960)

Jacqueline has been working at the Atelier since 1999. Animals are often the starting point in her work. In addition to drawing and painting nature, she also draws her own small-format black-and-white comic strips. She has always done this since her childhood: writing and telling stories runs in her family, and she was always drawing at school as well. Her mother asked her to create drawings to accompany the stories she told to little Jacqueline.

The comics she draws serve as the basis for her paintings. Jacqueline selects a fragment, projects it onto a canvas using a projector, and then paints it in. She became increasingly skilled at drawing and painting. Jacqueline takes us to the strange world of extraterrestrial beings on strange planets. She depicts situations and writes accompanying texts. Pop Art artists such as Roy Lichtensin and Andy Warhol also used comics, posters, and other forms of advertising in their work. Jacqueline’s artworks in the Herenplaats collection are regularly featured in exhibitions both domestically and internationally.

In recent years, Jacqueline has primarily worked digitally on her comics. In 2023, Herenplaats released her first hardcover comic book. Subsequently, she successfully worked on a second comic book in collaboration with writer and illustrator Renske de Greef. To promote these books, she designed imaginatively handmade Jacqueline plush toys. The book will be presented at various locations by the writing duo in 2026.
