Kitty van Straaten at Dikker dan Water

Kitty’s drawings spring from her rich imagination and experiences. She creates drawings with colored pencils or oil pastels, filled with beautiful colors and shapes. Portraits of beautiful women in striking dresses and a child in their arms. Exotic islands where you would love to be. Belly dancers, beautiful castles, and so on. But also darker images with dragons, skulls, and abysses. Kitty’s work excels in decorative effects. There is always something new to discover in her narrative style of working. Sometimes she even incorporates a coin or a sparkling jewel into her drawing. She gives all her drawings clear titles because they originate from something she has been working on in her head for a while (text: Ateliers De Wijde Doelen )

About the exhibition Thicker than Water
In this exhibition, we highlight ‘family’ and everything that comes with it in artistic form: the joy, the tragedy, and the loss. Because family is always a part of us, thicker than water — even when the bond breaks.

In addition to Efrat’s work, the exhibition features work by Siu Lin Ho, Kitty van Straaten, Paulus de Groot, Saskia Westerhof, Nicky van der Hoeven, Anuja Hoogstad, Johanneke van Nus, and Remco Roggeveen.

Will you come and see?
