Erik-Jan Evers (1959)
Erik-Jan Evers began his ambitions in the world of visual arts by copying photographs. Over the years, he has abandoned reality to express his feelings more deeply through visual words.
He calls his work intuitive art, a term the viewer might agree with, even though he doesn’t know the background of the work’s creation. Erik-Jan Evers works entirely intuitively. Sometimes he begins a piece with a specific feeling and reverses this feeling during the creation process. In such cases, you can expect a new image to appear over the “old” image, or details from a previous painting to find their way into his new work. To optimally express his feelings, Erik-Jan frequently uses mixed media.
Themes in Erik-Jan’s work include love, life, and death. This sometimes manifests in airy, light works, but also in other extremes: heavy, full, and dark work.
From 2010 to 2011, Erik Jan worked at the Herenplaats studio.
