As a child, Otte (1966) took drawing lessons from his father. This has had a major influence on his work. Otte says: “You can learn to observe; by drawing, you begin to see more and more. I learned that in my father’s studio, and that’s how my fascination with art began. Everything I see can be the starting point for a drawing.”
He has been working at Herenplaats since 2019. Observing the world is his inspiration. Otte prefers to call himself a draftsman. As a draftsman, he does not limit himself to traditional drawing materials. He adds color to his works by using acrylic and watercolor paints. Most of his works are two-dimensional and almost always have a spatial quality. Otte enjoys collaborating with other artists and/or other disciplines.
His work is on view in the current exhibition “A Room With Teeth.”
