Last week, we spent an inspiring morning in the ports of Rotterdam.

Laan Irodjojo, who has a deep love for harbor scenes, clearly felt right at home here. This setting often serves as the starting point for his paintings. As we walked through the chilly harbor, Laan would occasionally point out a ship that caught his eye.

Roland van Eck captured these moments in photos. Roland is currently editing the photos; Laan will later select a few of these images to serve as subjects for his new paintings.

Laan Irodjojo’s work is also on display through March 29, 2026, in the lobby of De Rotterdam at Wilhelminakade 139.
