Eef Timmerman

 Eef Timmerman (1961)

“This is gold!”

He’s been drawing his whole life. Over the years, he’s also taken several drawing and painting courses. At the Herenplaats, he discovered colored pencils, and Eef is developing his own style with form and color.

This distinctive style currently consists of experiments with color planes and colored lines on colored paper. We see clean lines, 3D effects, playing with light, depth, and geometry. It’s a quest, a game! Eef is completely absorbed in his work and marvels at what unfolds before his eyes. It’s the same wonder as the beauty of autumn leaves in the bright sunlight. The sensitivity of music. Eef enjoys it! The drawing, the studio, and his fantastic fellow artists. He can hardly believe he’s part of it all.

There’s always an extra sheet of paper nearby. In between, he has to occasionally test himself to see if (in Eef’s own words:) he can still draw! We see landscapes, dolphins, piano keys, real subjects, and realistic drawings. Because abstract work isn’t something everyone understands. The process is underway. We’re curious to see what wonderful things the future holds!

Eef has been working at Atelier Herenplaats since February 2019.
