‘Art Brut et Bande Dessinée’ in Lausanne

The exhibition ‘Art Brut et bande dessinée’ at the Collection de l’Art Brut museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, is open until February 26, 2023. Several works by Hein Dingemans are included in the exhibition.

This international exhibition brings together two apparent contradictions. Outsider Art is characterized by artists who work outside the norms of the established art world. ‘Comics’ is a style that most people associate with popular heroes who have often become icons in the media. ‘Art Brut et bande dessinée’ shows how Outsider Art artists integrate the theme of Comics into their work.

The Collection de l’Art Brut museum was opened in 1976. Jean Dubuffet donated his Art Brut collection to the city of Lausanne in 1971. Dubuffet introduced the term Art Brut. The museum is definitely worth a visit with its magnificent permanent collection of Outsider art. The permanent exhibition comprises 700 Outsider artworks.
