Following an international exhibition at the Outsider Art Museum in Amsterdam, Samuel Riera decided to contact Galerie Atelier Herenplaats in 2018. It is at that moment that a fruitful collaboration between Galerie Atelier Herenplaats and Riera Studio arises. Both inspired by artists with an authentic expressiveness, and with a common vision of art outside the marginalized circuit, the two studios decide to join forces. The exhibition ‘The Cuban Connection’ is an exchange between the studio in Havana, Cuba and the studio in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

In Rotterdam you can see work by Cuban artists Arturo Larrea Cardenas, Carlos Javier Garcia Huergos, Denisyan Masa Tamayo, Josvedy Jove Junco, Lazaro Antonio Martinez Duran, Luis Antonio Montes de Oca Bernal, Miguel Ramón Morales Diaz and Yainara Garcia Rousseaux. Many of these artists can now be seen for the first time in the Netherlands. In addition, work by Niels Lagerwaard, Coen Ringeling and Ronald Schriel, all three of Galerie Atelier Herenplaats, will be on display.
