Frits Gronert to retire after 30 years at Galerie Atelier Herenplaats

In 1991 Richard Bennaars and Frits Gronert founded Galerie Atelier Herenplaats.  Today, nearly thirty years later, it is a creative and lively organisation where more than fourty artists can develope themselves and their work.

After having worked at Galerie Atelier Herenplaats for thirty years, Frits is retiring. Frits has committed himself to Herenplaats, as an artistic leader and mentor. Out of love for the arts he has provided together with others for Outsider Art to take a more prominent role in the world of art, in the Netherlands as well as internationally. The borders of Outsider Art have become more fluid because of this effort, the art that is being made  has moved to the foreground.

Galerie Atelier Herenplaats has developed into an organisation whose artists are being respected and noticed in their own country and abroad.

Frits’s last working day at Herenplaats will be 5 November ; his official retirement starts on 9 November 2020.
We would have enjoyed dearly to celebrate Frits’s retirement together with all the people he worked with, but due to the pandemic situation we will postpone this to another date when it will be safer to host an event with more people.

We have searched for an appropriate way to show our appreciation and thank Frits for his long commitment and his years of work for Galerie Atelier Herenplaats in these times.

As a celebration of his retirement we are preparing an exhibition named Memories of Tomorrow. It will be overviewing the first years of Herenplaats with an addition of recent works, looking ahead to the future. More data and info will be posted soon.
